Oncology Internship Perth Veterinary Specialist is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic veterinarian to join the team as a Veterinary Oncology Intern. The opportunityThis is a full-time position that offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the only dedicated oncology department in Western Australia. The intern would work directly with the only registered veterinary oncologists in Western Australia, an oncology registrar, and a team of experienced veterinary nurses. The internship provides exposure to a large and wide variety of oncological cases and treatment modalities, including electrochemotherapy and radiation therapy. Key responsibilities:

  • Assessment of patients for medical and radiation therapy, daily rounds presentation, treatment discussion and decision making.
  • Assist in the safe administration of chemotherapy.
  • Support oncology patients through required departments such as diagnostic imaging, surgery, and emergency.
  • Participation in continuing education sessions and rounds, including inter-departmental journal club and rounds.
  • Assisting in the training of the rotating intern and veterinary students

Qualifications:

  • Qualified veterinarian with registration in Western Australia
  • MANZCVS in Small Animal Medicine or current preparation would be preferred but not essential
  • Sound knowledge base in small animal medicine with a strong interest in veterinary oncology
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, demonstrates initiative and committed to providing care of the highest standard.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure
