When I was growing up I wanted to be a combination of a Police Officer or a Vet. Ironically I became neither, but I married a police officer and obviously was lucky enough to work in the Veterinary Industry.

My first real job was working as a secretary for a large tiling company accountant, which sparked my interest in accounting. Since then I have worked as an accountant, owned restaurants, vet clinics and pet retreats, and held senior operations roles in the veterinary profession.

Since joining VetPartners as a clinic owner, I have held both Regional Manager and General Manager positions. In my current role within VetPartners as General Manager for QLD, I have the opportunity to work alongside the amazing QLD Op’s team and provide support to our compassionate, hard working and dedicated clinical teams.

The things that surprise me most about my career are how I keep gravitating back to the wonderful Veterinary industry; and how I have been blessed with so many amazing mentors who have each positively contributed to my career.

My entire career history and life experiences has helped build the skills I need for my current role, in particular, and having my owned my own clinic has provided me with a deeper understanding of the “why”.

The advice that I give everyone is to be humble, ask lots of questions (the vet industry are so generous with sharing their knowledge), roll your sleeves up and work in a clinic to get a better understanding of the amazing people in our clinics.
